The current Maltese fund regulatory framework allows for the creation of Professional Investor Funds (PIFs) that are locally regulated and supervised. Maltese PIFs are authorized for professional investors or other locally defined categories of non-retail investors. These investment funds are further permitted to invest in virtual financial assets and may only be actively marketed in Malta or acquired on a reverse solicitation basis.
